The General Counsel Division of the Office of Attorney General provides free training to public entities regarding North Dakota’s open records and open meetings laws. The training covers the basics of open records and open meetings, which includes: review of key definitions, proper ways to respond to record requests, meeting notice and minutes requirements, how to conduct legally authorized executive sessions, an overview of the Attorney General’s opinion process, and any pertinent legislative updates.
We offer an additional training specific to law enforcement agencies and staff that covers open records basics, legislative updates, and the opinion process as well as record exemptions applicable to law enforcement.
