Authorized Uses
Funding can support state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice for one or more of the following purpose areas:
- Law enforcement programs
- Prevention/education
- Corrections/community corrections
- Drug treatment
- Prosecution/courts
- Planning/evaluation/technology improvement programs
- Crime victim and witness programs (excluding compensation)
- Mental health programs related to law enforcement and corrections programs
- Programs to purchase and operate unmanned aircraft systems

- Supplanting existing state and local funds
- Vehicles, vessels, or aircraft
- Construction projects
- Luxury items
- Real Estate
- Lobbying, research, or fundraising

Application and Award Timeline
- July: Notice of funding
- August 12: Application deadline
- September: Drug and Violent Crime Policy Board meets
- October: Awards/denials sent
- January 2027: Projects begin (dependent on federal funding approval)

Award Details
Grant Period
- Start Date: January 1, 2027
- End Date: December 31, 2027
Continued funding beyond this period is not guaranteed. Applicants should plan for sustainability through local or alternative funding sources.
Reporting Requirements
This is a reimbursement-based grant. All submitted expenses must include full and detailed documentation, including:
- Invoices
- Timesheets and payroll records
This grant has a 35% local cash match requirement for JAG funding
Required Reports:
- Quarterly SFR (Summary Financial Report)
- Payment request system
- Semi-Annual Progress Reports
- Reimbursement may be withheld for incomplete or late reports
Additional Requirements:
- Site visits or desk reviews may be conducted
