After a meeting during which the commission decided to interview four individuals for the county administrator position, the commission Chair and Vice Chair decided to remove one individual from further consideration and directed the Human Resource director to send an email to the commission members about the decision, inviting response. The email to the commissioners constituted a meeting, for which public notice is required. Even though no commissioner responded, the email violated the law.
The commission also violated the law when it failed to properly post notice of a special meeting and also because the meeting notice did not include all topics to be considered at that meeting. 2017-O-04
