Request: Did the North Prairie Regional Water District violate the open meetings law by discussing public business outside of a properly noticed meeting?

Conclusion: The North Prairie Regional Water District met for a regular meeting on January 21, 2021. At one point, the District asked an employee to leave the room so they could discuss her job performance and compensation. Following the discussion, the District passed a motion to give the employee a bonus. The requester claimed that the District had adjourned the meeting before discussing the employee’s job performance and compensation, which the District denies. This office must base open meeting options on the facts given by the public entity. As the discussion of the employee’s job performance and compensation were conducted during a properly noticed public meeting, there was no violation of the law.
